At the turn of the 20th century, architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch was commissioned by three Terradas sisters to convert their bland residential buildings into a fanciful, Medieval castle. He collaborated with skilled artisans to create Casa Terrades on Avinguda Diagonal. This expression of Modernisme design features six, red-tile towers giving it the popular name of Casa de les Punxes (House of Spikes).
