This composite of two photos from Augusta are: The entrance to Maine’s State House which was finished in 1832 and the interior rotunda and dome standing 185 feet tall. A 69 year old senator I met claims he was the last person to crawl up the winding staircase to the dome’s apex when he was an 18 year old page. Maine became the 23rd state on March 15, 1820.

58 photos of Buffalo, which is a typical Midwest town of 15,000 people located in the heart of Minnesota, the Land of 10,000 Lakes. The images include a sweet corn stand, rows of soybeans, churches, a loon, lots of buffalo statues, and the government building for its role as county seat for Wright County. Buffalo’s slogan is, “Welcome Home!” It lives up to the “Minnesota Nice” reputation.
136 photos of the Minnesota State Fair in Saint Paul include iconic activities that happen for twelve days through Labor Day. “The Great Minnesota Get Together” attracts about 1.8 million, making it the second largest state fair in the U.S. It includes livestock competitions, shows, parades, beer gardens, art exhibits, plenty of rides, and almost any kind of food that is deep fried and then speared with a stick. That’s why I called this piece “So Much to See, Do and Eat.” There is no better way to end the summer than with a very high caloric and cholesterol intake at the fair.

Two photos of Kansas City, Missouri are: The welcome sign over the River Market. This is a historic neighborhood called City Market when it opened in 1857 as a farmers’ market. The composite also shows the skyline of downtown Kansas City including the Hotel President. This landmark was built in 1926, closed for 25 years and then became a Hilton in 2005.

I have been to Las Vegas, Nevada, countless times for business and pleasure and each time my camera accompanied me. In May, 2012, I aimed for a unique perspective of Las Vegas Boulevard South, better known as The Strip. I wanted to capture the inanimate faces that silently stare at the tourists and collectively help to create the Vegas ambiance. So, during two very hot days, I walked both sides of the 4.2 miles of casinos and hotels in search of statues, sculptures, art, mannequins, paintings, murals, logos, posters, ads and billboards. I also included a bathroom, pedestrian sign and the side a bus. The result is a one-hundred photo composite that I call Faces on the Strip. The framed artwork, which is for sale, is 16 ½” x 70” (that’s nearly six feet) and each photo is 2” x 3.” You can see the individual photographs in the two galleries called “Faces on the Strip.” This is the composite. A photo of the framed art is available upon request.

Two photos of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma are: 1) A 150% life-size bronze covered wagon that is part of the 45 figures stretching the length of a football field in the Oklahoma Centennial Land Run Monument by sculpture Paul Moore in the Bricktown District; and 2) The central business district skyline at dusk. Prominent is the Devon Tower, Oklahoma City’s tallest building at 50 stories.
Two photos of Tulsa, Oklahoma are: 1) World’s Largest Praying Hands statue. It is 60 feet tall and weighs 30 tons; and 2) The Learning Resource and Graduate Centers. These buildings on the campus of Oral Roberts University were designed to resemble King Solomon’s Temple.

Two photos of Providence, Rhode Island, are The south façade of the marble dome on the Rhode Island State House built in 1904, and The interior rotunda and dome with its decorative designs, murals and rose-colored, rectangular windows. The Latin words around the dome mean, “Rare felicity (state of happiness) of the times when it is permitted to think as you like and say what you think.”

Seven photos of Charleston, South Carolina are (in the four corners) Wonderfully restored Colonial, Antebellum and Civil War era homes from around 1700 through the 19th century in the Battery neighborhood, The Charleston Library Society staircase built in in 1914 but with a history back to 1748, The Old Slave Mart built in 1859 (once called Ryan’s Mart) and, in the center, A gorgeous scalloped column supporting a semi-circle dormer.
Five photos of Black Hills, South Dakota are: The granite of Mount Rushmore in the Black Hills with the superimposed faces of Presidents Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt and Lincoln. These are photos from the life-size bronze statues of every U.S. president on 12 street intersections in downtown Rapid City. It is known as the “City of Presidents.”
Three photos of Nashville, Tennessee are all located in the Ryman Auditorium. This was the original Grand Ole Opry House from 1943 until 1974. The historical entertainment center is called “The Mother Church of Country Music.” It was built in 1892 as the Union Gospel Tabernacle. These photos include: 1) The Ryman Auditorium’s exterior; 2) The original wooden pews in the balcony and the stage costumes from famous performers; and 3) The bronze statue of Minnie Pearl and Roy Acuff sitting on a bench in the lobby.

This building was featured in the television show “Dallas.” Three photos of Fort Worth are: The Chisholm Trail Mural of a longhorn cattle drive in Sundance Square painted by Richard Haas in 1985; The Mission Revival façade of the Fort Worth Live Stock Exchange built in 1903; and The Lone Star Flag adopted by the Republic of Texas in 1839.
Two photos of Houston, Texas are: The Victorian brick façade with sandstone arched window of the Houston Cotton Exchange Building where 100,000 bales of cotton were traded annually from 1884 until 1924; and The western downtown Houston skyline including the Heritage Plaza in the center and Wells Fargo Bank Plaza behind it.
Two photos of Seattle, Washington are: 1) The downtown Seattle skyline and shore along the Alaskan Way Viaduct from Elliott Bay; and 2) A man watching the sunset over Elliot Bay from a chair at Olympic Sculpture Park near the red steel Eagle sculpture. The two tall buildings are the Russell Investments Center on the left and the 1201 Third Avenue Building in the center. The first was going to be the new home of Washington Mutual from its previous headquarters on the right before WaMu became an early casualty of the 2008 financial crisis. On the far right is a portion of the Seattle Great Wheel.
Two photos of Madison, Wisconsin, are The gold-leaf covered “Wisconsin” statue which symbolizes “Forward” on top of the world’s largest white granite dome of Wisconsin’s State Capitol completed in 1917, and The interior rotunda which is constructed with 43 types of stone from across Europe and the Midwest plus lavish arches, stencils and murals. Shown are two of four mosaics, each made from 100,000 pieces of glass. On the left is “Government” and on the right is “Liberty.”
