In front of the Crazy Shirts store on Waterfront Row in Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii is this smiling carving of Captain Jack. A plaque nearby tells the story of how he was shipwrecked and rescued by the local merchants. He now basks in the Hawaiian sun on a park bench just below the lookout tower deck and welcomes guests with a hearty “Ahoy Mates!”
