In the 19th century, Little Italy was populated by fisherman, boat makers and tuna cannery workers. Those days are long gone. However, this 48 block neighborhood still retains plenty of charm. Along India Street, you will pass numerous small restaurants, stores and art galleries. But take time to talk with old Italian couples out for a stroll or the longtime residents who sit on their porch while gabbing with neighbors. They are delightful and welcoming.
