The Lone Sailor Statue was created by artist Stanley Bleifeld in 1987 and erected at the United States Navy Memorial in Washington, D.C. This replica in the Esplanade Park near New River is one of a dozen placed around the U.S. They are a tribute to all of the people who have served in “our Sea Services for securing our democracy.”
