The Tennessee Supreme Court is the state’s ultimate courtroom. The five justices serve eight-year terms (not life appointments) and the role of chief justice rotates among them. They primarily decide cases in this building yet frequently convene in other major Tennessee cities. Interestingly, the Supreme Court and not the state’s governor appoints the attorney general.
