Temple Emanu-El Synagogue in Miami Beach, Florida

The stunning façade of the Temple Emanu-El in Miami Beach displays both Byzantine and Moorish architectural elements. When it was built in 1948, it was patterned after the Great Synagogue in Oran, Algeria. You do not have to be Jewish to visit and appreciate it. In fact, it has welcomed numerous world leaders such as Presidents Reagan and Clinton, the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu. On the right is a section of a bronze sculpture called “The Dove of Peace” by Ken Treister. It was erected in 2010.
