One reason I enjoy photographing architecture is because I think it mirrors a city’s character and this photo helps to portray Miami’s contrasts. In the background is the Four Seasons Hotel and Tower, the tallest skyscraper in Florida. Inside its 789 feet of glass are a hotel, commercial space and condos. In the foreground is the St. Jude Melkite Church. Its façade of Indiana Bedford limestone was built in 1946. It may appear humble, but it’s loved by its Melkite Greek Catholic congregation. Interestingly, Madonna’s daughter was baptized here in 1997.
