Up to 100,000 people a day walk through the Whitehall Terminal and take the 25 minute ride on the Staten Island Ferry. You can easily tell which passengers are commuters and which are tourists. The former are sleeping, reading or playing with their phone while the latter are thrilled at the spectacular views of Lower Manhattan’s skyline and the Statue of Liberty. The tourists then get off at the St. George Ferry Terminal and immediately get back onto another ferry boat for the return five mile trip.
