Broome, in Western Australia, has been defined by its position along the Indian Ocean. For example, in 1889 an undersea telegraph cable was laid from here to Singapore. Around the same time, Japanese flocked to harvest mother of pearl and cultured pearls. Broome is also very hot, with average high temperatures ranging from 84° to 94° Fahrenheit. So, to cool off, lounge with the nudists at Cable Beach. Or head to Matso’s Broome Brewery and order a tall Smokey Bishop. It’s a dark lager beer that’s won awards and is highly rated by the locals. It’s delicious!
