Most of the duty-free shops that target tourists are not along the waterfront’s Veterans Drive but are one block over on Dronningens Gade, better known as Main Street. Several of these storefront buildings with Danish doors date back to the 19th century when they were warehouses for goods arriving or leaving from the harbor. Today, the merchants hope you will leave the port with shopping bags full of their jewelry, alcohol, clothes and souvenirs.
