As you enter the Old Port of Montreal, imagine seeing a French fur trader paddling along the Saint Lawrence River and into the fledgling settlement during the early 17th century. Montreal’s main port officially opened in 1830 and operated until 1976. The facilities lay dormant and decaying until a massive effort was initiated in the 1990s to convert the 1.2 mile waterfront into an entertainment center. An example of the revitalization is Scena.
