A growing trend among cities located along a waterway is to create a promenade that attracts locals and tourists. Downtown Fort Lauderdale has done an exemplary job with their Riverwalk district. The area features several cultural centers, a historic neighborhood, plenty of bars and restaurants, a large park, shops and this brick walking path. The walkway extends for a mile along the bank of the New River.
