The façade of City Hall of Seville has a gorgeous Plateresque design. This architectural style evolved in Spain in the late 15th century. The impressive blend of Gothic and Renaissance elements was frequently used for churches, university and government buildings for about a century. The term means “goldsmith” because the ornate details resemble fine jewelry. You will marvel at the intricate friezes, Ionic pilasters and fluted Corinthian columns.
