Palace of Justice is one of the few buildings in Parc de la Ciutadella not purposed for the 1888 Universal Exposition. It is the most ornate structure along Passeig de Lluís Companys. Architect Josep Domènech i Estapà combined several architectural styles to create the unified headquarters for the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia and the Provincial Court of Barcelona. The façade is adorned with friezes plus 48 sculptures and reliefs depicting law and justice. On top of the arched pediment is Moses holding the tablets of law.
