At the base of Point Loma in the Cabrillo National Monument is access to the tidepools. It’s thrilling to watch the Pacific Ocean pound and flow across the shoreline but please be cautious. Immediately after I took this photo, a huge wave crashed against the cliff and knocked over the young man on the left. He struggled not to be swept off the edge and, when the water receded, he crawled across the sharp rocks towards safety.
