Wat Benchamabophit is appropriately called the Marble Temple. This Ordination Hall (Phra Ubosot in Thai) is constructed from white Carrara Italian marble and so are several other structures of the wat. It was commissioned by King Rama V in the late 19th century. This qualifies the Temple of the Fifth King as one of the youngest of Bangkok’s 400 Buddhist temples.
