In 1927, Estadio de Montjuïc was one of several buildings constructed for the 1929 Barcelona International Exposition (World Fair). During the late 1980s, it was renovated to become the main facility for the 1992 Summer Olympics. Capacity crowds of 67,000 people watched the opening and closing ceremonies for the XXV Olympiad inside Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. Since then, the stadium at Olympic Park (Anella Olímpica) has been used for professional sporting events and concerts.
