A great place to start your walking tour is at the Old Town Clock on Citadel Hill. This landmark was commissioned by Prince Edward, the son of King George III, while he was stationed in Halifax as the Commander-in-Chief of North America. Apparently, the Duke of Kent and Strathearn had grown intolerant of soldiers’ excuses for being tardy. Garrison Clock was built in 1803. The young man is reenacting a mid-1800s soldier from the Royal Artillery at the Halifax Citadel.
