The U.S. Virgin Islands only has about 100,000 people whose predominate religion is Christianity so it is unexpected to see a Buddhist temple hugging a hill on the Northside of St. Thomas. But in 2006, Dr. May Trieu and her foundation constructed the Nirvana Temple on the Estate Mandahl to serve the religious needs of the 1.5% of the population who are of Asian descent.
