Most of your inland drive through St. Patrick Parish is mountainous. The narrow ridges have an average elevation of about 650 feet. The peaks exceed 2,000 feet in the center of the island. Nestled between these cornrows of rock are lush, futile valleys. The tropical temperatures (the average high is 85°) and abundant rainfall up to 150 inches a year (summer is the wet season) are optimal conditions for a spectacular rainforest.
