Many European homes were half-timbered during the Middle Ages. This means their wood framing is exposed like these at St. Leodegarstrasse. The medieval building on the left is now the four-star Hotel Zum Rebstock. It also houses the Hofstube bistro. Locals enjoy the art inside while eating excellent Swiss and French cuisine with a glass of wine. The neighboring structure was used as a guildhall for winegrowers during the 14th through 16th centuries.
