The original “The Little Mermaid” was written by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen in 1837. Since then, the fairytale has experienced more than 50 adaptations. The most popular is Disney’s animated film released in 1989. Its success led to a TV series from 1992 until 1994 plus two movie sequels in 2000 and 2008. Fans of Ariel, the mermaid princess, will enjoy the attraction in Fantasyland called Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid. Since the clamshell-shaped ride opened in 2012, it has allowed visitors to dive beneath the waves into a magical underwater kingdom to relive their favorite scenes from the animated classic.
