In the 1960s, the space race had only two serious contenders. Now, the International Space Station is a cooperative effort among the U.S., Russia, Japan, Canada and some European countries. When this marvel of technology was launch in 1998, it was assembled in outer space similar to a giant Erector Set. The satellite is expected to be operational until 2028. This mural is painted on the Exploration Space Building at Kennedy Space Center in Titusville, Florida.
