An estimated six million Jews were killed by the Germans during World War II. Miami has the largest population of survivors from those horrific times. So it seems very appropriate that several of them formed a committee to create this stunning monument to their friends, neighbors and relatives who perished. This Holocaust Memorial, which is in the center of a reflection pond, opened in Miami Beach in 1990. Interestingly, the address spans across 1933 to 1945 Meridian Avenue, the same years that the Nazis were in power.
