Two years after the Roosevelt Hotel was built in 1927 along Hollywood Boulevard, its Blossom Room was the venue for the First Academy Awards. The hotel was originally financed by Hollywood celebrities Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks, Sid Grauman and Louis B. Mayer. It has also been the residence of other stars like Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable, it started the careers of Shirley Temple and Mary Martin, and it is rumored to be the haunting grounds for ghosts like Errol Flynn.
