In 1930, this elegant mansion on Ocean Drive in South Beach was built for Adlen Freeman. He was a partial heir to the Standard Oil Trust. In 1992, famous Italian fashion designer Gianni Versace purchased this and an adjacent property. He then invested $33 million into the estate before being assassinated on the front steps in 1997. It is now part of The Villa by Barton G, an ultra-luxury hotel. The owners paid $41.5 million for the property. Suites at The Villa Casa Casuarina start at $800 per night and range up to $2,200.
