This courthouse was built in 1820. Gibraltar’s judiciary consists of lower courts for criminal and civil jurisdictions, the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals. The highest level is the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in London. Above the courthouse is the United Kingdom’s Royal Arms, supported by a golden lion and silver unicorn. New facilities for the Gibraltar Law Courts were built in 2012.
