After the sun sets and the beaches in Fort Lauderdale become deserted, crowds of young people fill the bars and clubs. Inside the drinks flow, the music is loud and the lights become a kaleidoscope of colors. Perhaps the most famous nightlife venue of “Fort Liquordale” is the Elbo Room. This landmark of southern Florida opened in 1938. The club was featured in the 1960 movie “Where the Boys Are” with Connie Francis and George Hamilton.
