As you begin your descent down El Panecillo, take a moment to admire the colorful homes clinging to the hill in the San Diego neighborhood. At the summit of the La Libertad parish is a military museum often called Mount Liberty. La Cima de la Libertad is dedicated to the Battle of Pichincha and has a tomb of the unknown soldier.
