The Los Angeles Music Center consists of four buildings for the performing arts. The oldest is the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. It was built in 1964 for the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Los Angeles Master Chorale but it also hosted twenty Academy Award nights. Now it is the home of the Los Angeles Opera. It is named for the woman who spearheaded the building project.
