About 200,000 to 300,000 years ago, a massive eruption occurred for just a few days along the southeast shore of O’ahu. The explosive event formed the iconic landmark known as Diamond Head. Also called Lē’ahi, the dormant volcano is now a 475 acre State Monument Park. Diamond Head is probably the most photographed subject on the island.
