At the base of Santa Ana Hill and the start of Malecón 2000 are several venues worth exploring. The Anthropological Museum of Contemporary Art has fascinating exhibits showcasing Ecuador’s history. The 50,000 artifacts date back to the aboriginal people (8000 BC to 1400 AD), the Pre-Columbian period including the Incas (1463-1532), the Spanish occupation (1532 through early 19th century) up until the present.
