27 Circular Quay in Sydney, Australia

In January of 1788, the First Fleet of 11 ships transporting over 1,000 convicts from England to Sydney landed here at Sydney Cove. This historic spot within Port Jackson was converted into Circular Quay in 1844. Initially used as a commercial shipping harbor, Circular Quay morphed into a ferry and passenger ship terminal and also an epicenter for tourism. This eastside view is seen from the steps of Sydney Opera House.
