They were driven to Carondelet Palace for an arranged tour and meeting. An honor guard at the palace entrance escorted them down a wide corridor defined by a stone colonnade. Free, one-hour guided tours of Palacio de Carondelet, also known as the Presidential Palace, are available to the public. You’ll see the courtyard and several of the rooms described in the novel. Access to the presidential residence on the third floor is restricted.
