This marble and bronze tribute to Major General Marquis de Lafayette was created in 1890. He was a Frenchman who helped Washington, Hamilton and Jefferson fight during the American Revolution. The sculpture is one of fourteen in Washington, D. C. collectively called the American Revolution Statuary.
