After crossing the street, the siblings glimpsed at the block-long green space of Independence Mall. Basking in the sunlight were the Liberty Bell Center and Independence Hall. Independence National Historical Park is 55-acres in the heart of historic Philadelphia. The primary landmark is Independence Hall (far center). The Georgian structure was the Pennsylvania State House when constructed in 1753. Fifty-six delegates assembled here on July 4, 1776, to sign the Declaration of Independence. The bell from its steeple became known as the Liberty Bell. The famous cracked bell can be viewed in Liberty Bell Center (far right). Also pictured (near right) is the Independence Visitor Center.
