Byodo-In Temple opened in 1968 on the centennial anniversary of the first Japanese immigrants to Hawaii. It is a replica of a similar Buddhist temple in Uji, Japan. It is located in the Valley of the Temples Memorial Park at the base of the Ko’olau Mountains. Swimming in the reflection pool are large koi carp.
