Claes Oldenburg is a Swedish-born pop artist. His signature is creating huge sculptures of commonplace objects. My favorites are the Free Rubber Stamp (Cleveland, Ohio), the Typewriter Eraser (Washington, D. C) and the Spoonbridge and Cherry (Minneapolis, Minnesota). His fans will quickly recognize and smile at this whimsical, “Big Sweep.” The dustpan stands 31 feet in front of the Denver Art Museum’s Fredrick C. Hamilton Building.
