Barbary sheep, also called aoudad, are native to the mountains along the North African continent. They graze brushes and grasses during the early morning and late afternoon in order to avoid the heat. From their three foot standing position, they can propel their weight of 80 to 300 pounds into a seven foot leap. The shaggy beard suggests this is a male.
